The Recteq RT-700 has been retired and replaced with the Flagship-1100.
The Recteq RT-700 was my first foray into the world of pellet smokers. (see video here) Up to this point I was a charcoal grill and stick burner man, pellets and gas grills were out of the question. As time went on, life seemed to get really busy. Working longer hours and getting home later meant that getting the charcoal around became more of a chore, so I started looking for something more convenient for weekday use. I was actually considering a gas grill for our weeknight meals. Then, one day a friend was telling me about his new “Recteq”. The next day I got on-line, and an RT-700 was on the way! It instantly became my weekday workhorse.
The RT-700, like all Recteq products is a solid unit. It has 700″ of cooking space on a single rack. An optional add in rack can be purchased separately for a little more cooking space. It has a 40 lb hopper and weighs 190 lbs without pellets. It has 2 fixed casters and 2 swivel casters. They aren’t as heavy duty as I would like, but being that I cook on paved surfaces, they aren’t a real issue for me. The 700 has a single vent stack located on the right side of the smoker, for this reason, the right side of the smoker runs at a higher temperature. There is also a grease bucket located on the right side.
The brain of this unit is the PID controller. It is wifi compatible and has 2 temperature probe ports for monitoring your cooks. The temperature range is 180 to 450+ degrees, giving you a lot of versatility. Depending on the ambient temperature the unit gets to temperature pretty quickly and maintains it throughout the cook.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I have had no issues with the 700 at all and I would recommend it to anyone that needs something for everyday use.
